Published June 13th, 2025

This interactive dashboard provides a comprehensive view of annual average employment trends across Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot counties in Maryland’s Mid-Shore region. Powered by data from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, the dashboard tracks employment by industry from 2008 to 2023, highlighting both long-term growth and year-over-year change.

Users can toggle between two views:

  • Employment Trends (line chart): Visualizes how average annual employment has shifted in each county and industry over time.
  • Employment Change (bar chart): Breaks down year-over-year increases and decreases in employment, color-coded to show gains and losses.

Employment can be filtered by sector, such as constructioneducation and healthlocal governmentmanufacturing, and more. For example, Caroline County’s construction industry saw a dip through 2011, followed by steady growth through 2023. Talbot County consistently shows higher industry employment totals, particularly in sectors like health care and hospitality.

This dashboard is an essential tool for economic developers, workforce planners, educators, and policymakers seeking to understand the labor market composition, monitor sector resilience, and support data-driven decisions for regional growth.
