Mid-Shore Commuting

Mid-Shore Commuting
Published April 11th, 2025

This interactive dashboard offers a clear and visually compelling snapshot of commuting patterns across Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot Counties in 2023. Drawing on data from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, (2019–present) it highlights where residents work relative to where they live. The stacked bar charts reveal notable differences among the counties: a slim majority of Caroline County residents work outside their county, while the majority of Dorchester and Talbot residents stay local for employment—with Talbot County showing the highest percentage (75.48%) of residents working within their home county.

Ideal for planners, policymakers, and researchers, this dashboard helps users quickly compare commuting trends and understand local labor dynamics in the Mid-Shore region of Maryland.  This resource is part of a series of dashboards developed to support the Mid-Shore Online CEDS.
