Poverty Ratio Dashboard
This interactive dashboard presents a clear, data-driven view of poverty across Maryland using the latest American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates. With an intuitive layout, it visualizes the poverty ratio—the number of individuals living above the federal poverty level compared to those below—at both county and state levels.
Users can explore the map to see how different counties stack up, with green areas indicating a higher-than-average ratio of residents living above poverty and orange highlighting areas where poverty is more concentrated. The right-hand bar chart breaks this data down even further by age group, making it easy to identify where interventions might be most needed.
A detailed panel updates with key metrics when a single county is selected. Users can also view regional data by using the map tools to select one or more counties.
Whether you're a policymaker, researcher, or advocate, this dashboard offers a powerful lens into economic wellbeing in Maryland, providing a foundation for informed decision-making and resource allocation.
