School Report Card for Mid-Shore Counties

School Report Card for Mid-Shore Counties
Published June 17th, 2025

This interactive dashboard presents a comparative overview of school performance indicators for Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot counties based on the 2023–2024 Maryland School Report Card. Developed using data from the Maryland State Department of Education, the dashboard illustrates how each county performed across four key accountability measures.

Each county’s earned points are shown alongside the maximum possible points for each indicator, allowing users to easily assess progress and performance gaps. The indicators include:

  • School Quality and Student Success
  • Academic Progress
  • Academic Achievement
  • Progress in Achieving English Language Proficiency

For example, in the “School Quality and Student Success” category, Talbot County earned 25 out of 35 points, the highest among the three counties. Caroline followed with 23 points, and Dorchester with 20. Across all categories, the visualization reveals where counties are excelling and where additional support may be needed, particularly in areas like English language proficiency.

The dashboard’s side-by-side bar and line format makes it easy for educators, policymakers, and community leaders to identify relative strengths, track trends, and inform resource allocation or improvement strategies

Key Features:

  • Four performance categories
  • County-level earned points vs. possible points
